Back to topPrecious McKenzie
Precious McKenzie holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of South Florida. Her area of specialization is nineteenth-century British literature so, naturally, she loves those big, fat Victorian novels. A native Floridian but naturalized to Montana, she's taught at the University of South Florida, New College of Florida, and Montana State University's City College. She is currently an assistant professor of English at Rocky Mountain College and a former Senior Editor at Rourke Educational Media.
She is a leader in the Society of Children's Book Writers & Illustrators and the Rocky Mountain Modern Language Association. Her poetry has appeared in ellipsis, Gemini, and as part of Tupelo Press's 30/30 Project. She is also the author of more than 50 books for children including the popular Buff Ducks, Isle of Enchantment, One Thousand Miles, Now or Later Alligator, and Disaster Day.
Here is a little challenge: Who do you imagine is the most prolific author/member of our bookstore? There are several strong contenders. Craig Johnson, for example, as 16 at last count, but the answer is Precious McKenzie. If you count her titles in translation and the collections she edited, we find a total of 60 books with her name on the cover. Most are children's books, but she has also written or edited books for adults. Several of her books are available in Spanish translation.

The following is a listing of books that Precious has published since becoming a member-owner at This House of Books, or titles that she herself chose to list. Although most of the titles listed here are paperbacks, a quick search will turn up the hardbound versions.
