Summer Series for Kids: The Art & Science of Bread
On Monday, June 24, 2:00 PM, at This House of Books, French baker, Francois Morin, intends to put some actual bread dough in each child’s hands in order to let them see how kneading affects the texture of the bread. During this event, part of for our S.T.E.A.M Summer Series for Kids, we will knead a little dough and shape it to make a roll. Morin will take it to his shop and bake it for the children to pick up later. Expect hands to get sticky!
About Our Presenter
Morin owns and operates the French bakery near our bookstore, Le Fournil (at 2805 1st Avenue N). He makes some of the best bread in Montana. During our Summer Series last year, he provided a wonderful demonstration of yeast fermentation and now we will explore the role of gluten in a roll.
Morin was born in France and is trained as a French baker. He and his wife moved to Billings to open his current business.
During the week, your best bet for finding a nearby parking space is to try one of the nearby parking garages. Park 3 near the corner of Second Ave N. and North 27th street is nearest, about two blocks from our door and featuring the marvelous mural of Billings History by Terri Portia.
