Author Event: Peter Young
On Friday, August 16, from 5:30 to 7:00, author and former sports broadcaster Peter Young will present his novel, The Blue Team.
The main character of the book, Thomas Conner, has a perfect jump shot. But trying to prove he can play like his hero, the great Larry Bird, leads to disaster for Thomas. With the season and his career hanging in the balance, Thomas must identify and conquer his greatest enemy. Is it the defender always trying to block the next shot, or is it someone else? The Blue Team is interwoven with rich historical detail and nail-biting March Madness action. The Blue Team is a story of fathers and sons, overcoming adversity, and the redemptive power of Christ.
Peter himself played basketball at the George Washington University and was Tri-Captain of the first GW team to ever play in the NIT. After his playing career ended he coached at the college and high school level before embarking on his sports broadcasting career, during which he spent over 20 years covering numerous sports. He worked for CBS, ESPN, the Pac12 Network, the Outdoor Life Network, and others.
A storyteller first and foremost, Peter has shared his views on life and sports both in broadcasting and public appearances both here at home as well as in several foreign countries. He rarely travels anymore, so this is an unusual opportunity to see him in person.
