Elizabeth McNamer

Dr. Elizabeth McNamer is Assistant Professor & Zerek Chair, Religious Studies at Rocky Mountain College. She serves on the Board of the Bethsaida Excavations Project in Galilee, Israel and since 1993, she has been taking students and other volunteers to dig at the site of Bethsaida. This is a place that is frequently mentioned in the gospels in association with the ministry of Jesus. The original town of Bethsaida was lost for nearly two millennia, only to be rediscovered in 1988.

In addition to being the author of several well-respected books, Dr. McNamer has written several articles on archaeology and scripture. She has been featured on the History Channel and Public Television in several documentaries, including The Lost Years of Jesus: In Search of ChristmasSearch for the historical Jesus; The Fifth Gospel; and The land and sea of Galilee. She is the author-narrator for "The Heart of It" study guide series of engaging commentary on great literary classics published by Phoenix Books.
