—What I Am Reading Now Department: Sandstone

Cover of the anthology, Sandstone, a fundraiser for This House of Books, your community-owned, independent bookstore and tea shop in downtown Billings, MontanaI just finished reading Sandstone, the anthology published as a fundraiser for This House of Books. Sandstore has 30 contributors and I can say that the quality is amazing. It immediately struck me when I jumped into the first story, a beautifully described story of misadventure set on the northern border of Grand Teton National Park by Pete Fromm. There are so many good contributions that it is impossible for me to pick favorites.

A short, dry summary of the history of This House of Books

At the time of our first anniversary, I wanted to collect this information from the dusty archives of files that are now scattered among many websites, FaceBook pages, Google Docs vaults, emails, and other locations. I want to recognize the efforts of some of the earliest participants who helped to make this happen, and I want to make sure the information is not lost.

Montana Noir at This House of Books

As part of the Montana Noir tour, Gwen Florio joined our own Carrie La Seur to read selections from the book. An excellent discussion followed.

Sandstone Release Party and Reading

We had a lovely launch for the anthology, Sandstone, yesterday. Here for your enjoyment are a few photographs from the event.

—What I Am Reading Now Department: Montana Noir

Montana Noir, available from This House of Books, your community-owned, independent bookstore & tea shop in downtown Billings, MontanaNoir is not really my preferred genre, but I picked this up because I know several of the authors and I wanted to see what they were writing. Oh, my goodness! I was hooked. This stuff is good!
